Turn 5 Scholarships

Turn 5 operates 3 different sites: ExtremeTerrain; AmericanMuscle and AmericanTrucks. Each one of these divisions has its own unique scholarship program offered year-round. Here is a brief summary of each one and a link to the scholarship page with complete details for your review. 

ExtremeTerrain: 2 x $3000 scholarships for students(includes high school seniors) pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Research, Land Use, Earth and Atmosphere Studies, Sustainable Land Management, Parks and Recreation, or Sustainable Agriculture Systems. One scholarship will be awarded for the fall semester and another for the spring semester each year.

AmericanMuscle: 4 x $2000 scholarships for students(including high school seniors) pursuing an automotive themed major(mechanical engineering, robotics etc.) Two scholarships will be awarded every spring semester, followed by two additional scholarships to be awarded for the fall semester each year

AmericanTrucks: 4 x $2000 scholarships to students(including high school seniors) pursuing a career in the traditional building trades such as HVAC, carpentry, electrical, or related fields of study. Two scholarships will be awarded every spring semester, followed by two additional scholarships to be awarded for the fall semester each year

Clyde Russell Scholarship

Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund

The Clyde Russell Scholarship fund will award 2 scholarships.  The first is for a graduating senior going to a four year college, the second is for a graduating senior who will attend a Maine Community college.  This award is limited to citizens of Maine.  The application must be downloaded at Clyde Russell Scholarship Fund

Maine JCI Scholarship

This link http://www.usjcisenate.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=191&Itemid=123 is the link to download the application form for the US JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship.  The application should be printed, signed and dated by the applicant, and mailed with attachments to the address below.

Maine High School seniors are eligible to apply through the Maine JCI Senate representative on the application form.  Applications must be postmarked by January 5, 2018.  The Maine JCI Senate will select two candidates for the next level of judging by the US JCI Senate Foundation.  Last year, the US JCI Senate Foundation awarded scholarships of $1,000 each to 20 students from the United States (including one from Maine).

Fresh n' Lean Scholarship

As a company that promotes healthy eating, we believe this scholarship opportunity would be a simple and fun way to create incentives for living a healthy lifestyle while getting the chance to receive help paying for education.

This scholarship would be for high school seniors enrolled in college for Fall 2018.

As part of the application process, we require that the student submit a short video or photo essay that shows how their personal eating habits have helped them achieve specific goals.

The award amount for this scholarship is $1,500 and the application must be submitted by May 1st, 2018.

 

A few other specifics of the scholarship are as follows:

  • Must be a legal resident and currently living in the United States
  • Fresh n’ Lean staff’s members are not eligible to enter
  • Home-schooled students may apply (must be equivalent to high school senior)
  • Must submit a video or photos with a short essay

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

"High school seniors who demonstrate exceptional leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship are invited to apply for the 2018 GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program. This program annually provides college-bound students with $10,000 renewable scholarships – up to $40,000 total per recipient – and supports them as they lead and serve in college and beyond."

Hagan Scholarship Foundation

The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide, need based, merit scholarship for high achieving students who will require financial assistance in order to attend college.

ASCE Scholarship

American Society of Civil Engineers announces their scholarships totaling $4000 for Maine HS seniors who plan a career in civil engineering. 

Recipients will be selected based on:
academic performance
extracurricular activities
letters of recommendation
statement of interest in civil engineering

Jackson Lab Scholarship

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is launching a new scholarship program to help underserved students pursue a college degree in biomedicine. The JAX College Scholarship program will award a $10,000 scholarship to three graduating high school seniors from Maine, Connecticut, and Sacramento County, California.

Applicant criteria:

  • Applicants must be nominated by a teacher or guidance counselor from their high school.
  • Applicants must demonstrate either significant financial need or status as a first-generation college student.
  • Applicants must be on track to complete their high school diploma with a cumulative GPA greater or equivalent to 3.5 on a standard 4.0 scale.

Dates and deadlines:

  • The online nomination and application portal will be available from October 1, 2017 through February 1, 2018.
  • Scholarships will be awarded in late April 2018.

Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund offers renewable, four-year scholarship to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, the community or at home), a strong work ethic demonstrated by part-time employment while in school, grit and passion for overcoming obstacles and/or achieving future goals, and leadership qualities.

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

"The American Legion National Oratorical Scholarship Program is underway.  It is a Constitutional Speech contest providing winners with scholarships....High School Students, grades 9-12...are invited to compete in the 20172018 contest..."

The state level awards $1500, $500, $300 an d$125.  Students who compete in the National Contest will receive at least a $1500 scholarship with the final winner awarded $18,000!
