Vivint Smart Home is very excited to be offering a scholarship to Searsport District High School. 


Eligibility Requirements

In order to participate in the scholarship contest, applicants must meet the following criteria:

·       Student must be a high school senior or college student, and a legal resident of the United States

·       Student must be enrolled in school no later than September 30, 2017

·       Winner is not based on financial need

·       Applicants required to submit a video (see “Make A Video” tab on the website listed above)

·       Student must be planning on or already enrolled in one of the eligible majors listed in the Scholarship Official Rules

·       Winner of the scholarship must be living in the United States

MES Foundation

The Richard H. Pierce Memorial Scholarship
Established in honor of MES founder, Dick Pierce, who passed away in 2011, these scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need.  The goal is to provide support for students who might not otherwise continue their post-secondary education without financial assistance.
 
Scholarships are awarded on a renewable basis for up to 4 years (depending on the grade level of the student).  In order to receive renewable rewards, student must maintain satisfactory academic progress.

Scholarship Details
  • A $5,000 scholarship per student per year will be awarded.
  • Scholarships will be renewable for up to four years.
  • A total of 10 scholarships will be awarded to eligible students in 2017.
  • Application period runs from January 1st - April 15th.  
Academic excellence demonstrated by the content of the applicant's transcript and GPA

Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Maine Legislature annually recognizes one student from each county who is currently pursuing or planning to pursue education at a two- or four-year degree-granting Maine college or technical school. Awards are given to Maine resident high school seniors or full- or part-time postsecondary students accepted to or enrolled in accredited Maine colleges for graduate or undergraduate degrees.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000; one per county; 16 total.

How is this Awarded: Awards are made on the basis of: Academic excellence demonstrated by the content of the applicant's transcript and GPA; the applicant's activities, including employment and contributions to community; financial need demonstrated by the applicant's Student Aid Report (SAR); two letters of recommendation and an essay of 300 words or less from the applicant explaining his or her educational goals and intentions.

Application Process:

Application is now available for download Maine Legislative Memorial Scholarship Fund. Because application availability has been delayed, this year’s application deadline has been extended to May 1st, 2017. Scholarships may be deferred for one year if this is to the student’s financial advantage.

National Assn of Women in Construction

The NAWIC will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors or current college students who have enrolled in a post-secondary program in a construction related course, ie.: carpentry, civil engineering, architecture, welding, etc.

University Credit Union

University Credit Union Scholarship Program
 
University Credit Union will award eight scholarships to students who are furthering their education by attending one of the seven University of Maine System campuses or Maine Maritime Academy and beginning their studies in the Fall 2017 semester. The eight scholarships will be awarded as follows:
  • University of Maine - $1,000.00
  • University of Maine at Augusta - $1,000.00
  • University of Maine at Farmington - $1,000.00 
  • University of Maine at Fort Kent - $1,000.00
  • University of Maine at Machias - $1,000.00
  • University of Maine at Presque Isle - $1,000.00
  • University of Southern Maine - $1,000.00
  • Maine Maritime Academy - $1,000.00
Eligibility
  • Be a member of UCU with an account in good standing. Primary account ownership is required and Joint ownership on an account does not meet qualification for application.
  • Be entering your first year of college at one of the eight schools listed above this fall.
  • Complete all information required here: UCU
Other Information
  • Fully completed applications must be submitted online and received through UCU’s website no later than Monday, May 1, 2017.
  • All applications will be sent to the Scholarship Committee after the application deadline. The committee will review all submissions for eligibility and requirements to determine approval.
  • Scholarship winners will be randomly selected from the pool of approved eligible applications for each of the eight awards.

ME State Employees Association Scholarship

MSEA announces it's 2017 scholarships.  All applicants must have a relationship with a dues-paying member of the MSEA.  Dependents of schoolteachers are not eligible for this scholarship.

Ruffed Grouse Society

The Ruffed Grouse Society announces their annual scholarship to a student pursuing a career in wildlife management, conservation law enforcement, forestry, or a closely related field.

Maine Council on Elder Abuse

The GFWC and Maine Council for Elder Abuse Prevention are raising awareness about elder abuse in Maine. They will award a $1000 scholarship a graduating senior who will be a full-time student at a college or certification program in the 2017-2018 academic year.

Must write a 500 word essay - "What is elder abuse and why does it matter to you?".
